Hakomi

How Do You Stand In Relation to the Many Realms

The Hakomi Method of Psychotherapy is based in the principles of Mindfulness, Non-Violence, Unity, Mind-Body Holism, and Organicity. In a Hakomi session we use mindfulness so that you can study your experiences (thoughts, emotions, sensations, memories, images, relationships) and learn about how you are orienting to those experiences. Using any and all content you bring to the session, we can learn about how you relate to yourself, to others, and to the world. Through this learning we have the opportunity to transform any beliefs that are holding you back from living how you would like to live.

Hakomi is Experiential, meaning we bring attention to experiences in the moment so we can study what you are actually doing. The method is not talk therapy. While we will talk in a session, we will not simply talk about your habits and challenges as that rarely brings about lasting results.

Hakomi is a Mindfulness Method. We use mindfulness. awareness of your present moment experience, to understand your habits so as to allow new habits to arise. Mindfulness or Awareness is the foundation of many different spiritual and movement practices.

Hakomi is a Somatic therapy, meaning we include and value the contributions of the physical body and the relationship between thoughts, emotions, sensations, meaning, movement and memory.
